Sweet rice drink Amazake

To make a good SAKE,”Rice”,”Water” and “People(brewers)” are needed, and SADO Island has all of them.

Local people have made their own SAKE since long ago, and “Amazake”*, sweet rice drink, has been familiar to them through the ages.

*Amazake includes lots of nutrition, and is superfood in Japan.

This Amazake is very special, and made of 100% high-quality rice produced in SADO Island.

And it’s still made with acient tools and production method.

The ingredients are only steamed rice, malted rice/malt and water, and fermented slowly at low temperature.

Product above: Amazake Drink, 480ml
Ingredients: steamed rice, malted rice/malt and water, without sugar, without additives and preservatives
Taste: Lactic acid fermentation drink and sour-sweet like yoghurt
Alcohol: less than 0.5%

Product above: Amazake Jam, 190g
Ingredients: steamed rice, malted rice/malt and water, without sugar, without additives and preservatives
Taste: Lactic acid fermentation jam and sweet
Alcohol: less than 0.5%

You can have it as it is or spread on bread or use to flavor enhancer.

You can also buy “Doburoku”, sake that is home-brewed.

It’s sour-sweet, semi carbonated and the alcohol is 7%.

Also, they have dry SAKE and its alcohol is 19%.

If you go to the shop, you can try a small cup of it.

They could be a good souvenir, too.
