Round boats experience in Ogi

“Taraibune” is round boats made of 60 year-old cedar tree and bamboo.

There used to be miso barrel craftsmen in this area, and they made these wooden boats.

They are more stable than small boats, and local people still use them to move between small rocks in the sea to get seaweed and shells.

Rikiya Kanko Kisen is located around SADO Kisen Ferry Terminal in Ogi and Ogi bus station on a local bus line, so easy to access.

3 adults or 4 children up to 500kg can get on a same boat, and boatwoman will ride on it with you.

The boat ride lasts about 7-8mins, and they provide the service even on a rainy day.

You can buy tickets here and go to the boarding point.

It looks easy as you watched on the movie “Spirited Away” by Hayao Miyazaki, who won 75th Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, but difficult to do it actually..

The boatwoman will teach you how to do it.

You need to bend your knees a bit and move an oar the shape if figure of 8 to keep balance.

Also, you can experience boat ride going through a cave here, too.
